Arlene Sierra, Volume 4
The newest addition to Bridge Records' critically-acclaimed portrait series, Arlene Sierra Volume 4 will focus on the composer's latest symphonic works.
   
  Bird Symphony
Commissioned by the Utah Symphony: A symphony of birds, drawing from materials collected in the piano album Birds and Insects, Book 2. 
   
  Birds and Insects, Book 3
A new piano album based on the latest research into female birdsong. 
   
Maya Deren series
Continuing from her successful rescorings of the films Meditation on Violence and Ritual in Transfigured Time for Lontano and the Goldfield Ensemble respectively, Sierra has just completed Studies in Choreography, the third in a series of new scores for prestigious ensembles, set to Maya Deren's expressive and surreal films from the 1940's and 50's. The next score in the series, to Deren's masterpiece At Land, will be completed in 2021.
   
  Faustine
An opera in development with playwright Lucy Thurber after the novella by Emma Tennant, with support from New York City Opera VOX, ROH2 at Royal Opera House Covent Garden, and Aldeburgh Young Artist Residencies. It is the story of an older woman, Muriel, who sells her soul to the devil for eternal youth because she is in love with her daughter's lover. The project has received support from Center for Contemporary Opera, NY City Opera VOX, New Music USA CAP Performance program, ROH2 at Royal Opera House Covent Garden, and Aldeburgh Young Artist Residencies.
